Hello!

Could you please check my essay?

I would so appreciate it. I am preparing for my IELST exam!! Thank you in advance!

Drug addiction is one of the major problems in the contemporary world. Unfortunately neither advanced medicine nor technology has encouraged people to quite this devastating habit and turn to healthy lifestyle.

It is a common knowledge that people who consume drugs do not only deteriorate their own health and run risk of dying but also  pose threat to the rest of  society. Generally, addicted people are desperate when it comes to obtaining substance and can resort to crime. Evidence seems to suggest that ninety percent of mugging cases are conducted by drug takers. In addition, the government bears enormous cost of providing medical care for these people and results are not usually successful due to drug users’   inability to restrain their harmful habit . This money might have been better spent on people who have real medical problems such as cancer and  heart diseases. Finally, children are the least protected group of society due to their immature attitude and desire to try new things. Consequently,  teenagers may easily succumb to temptation to take a drug if it is offered to them.

One of the possible solutions might be organizing special lectures at schools where the consequences of drug abuse would be  brought up. Secondly, it might help if the government reinforced the border security so that smugglers could not carry illegal substances. Lastly, if all people were more vigilant and reported any suspicious person to the police it would make it more difficult for drug dealers to work.

To sum up,  since drug abuse is one of the alarming problems of modern society it is important to develop innovative ways to cope with this trouble. By joining their forces both citizens and the state have more chances to reduce the menace of drugs.
