Your local newspaper wants to reward people who have contributed a lot to the community.
Write a letter to the newspaper. In your letter:
suggest someone who deserves the reward
mention what they have done to help the community
say what reward you would like to give this person

Dear Editor,

I am writing to nominate a special citizen for the Norfolk Daily‘s Local Hero Award 2012.

Despite a busy work and family life Mrs Jones has made a remarkable contribution to our community recently by saving Norfolk‘s Children Hospital from being closed down. After learning that some departments of the hospital were endangered due to a lack of funding Mrs Jones acted immediately. In May she organized a charity street market which raised $12,000 for new equipment. The event also drew attention to the issue and since additional sponsors have made funds available. Despite this success Mrs Jones has announced plans for another charity event for the hospital before Christmas.

You may be aware that the closest children’s hospital is some 300 kilometres away from Norfolk. Without Mrs Jones actions swift medical treatment for children would be a major problem in this area by now.

For all these reasons, I would like to see Mrs Jones being awarded Local Hero of Norfolk. I am looking forward to your decision and please let me know if you  require additional details.

Yours sincerely,
