According to those in the travel business, the nature of the average holiday is changing. Rather than seeking a relaxing break in a far away place, people now want excitement on their holidays and are keen to participate in unusual and challenging activities. In what extent do you agree or disagree?

With living standards gradually improving, the way people enjoy their holidays has been become more and more diverse. Traditionally, a holiday offers a great chance for people to visit other places; however, now a lot of people are in favor of unusual and challenging activities in their holidays.

In order to unwind themselves, some people may tend to spend their holidays in a far-away place . That is to say, after a long hard-working time in a fiercely competitive work environment, people seem to get stressed out. Going to a quiet and peaceful village, therefore, may be a promising choice if they want to appreciate the world without any distractions and disturbances and complete get away from experience. This, in turn, enables them to recharge their batteries and then promote their work productivity when they come back.

However, there are a well of explanations for the shift in the way people spend their holidays. So jam-packed with holidaymakers is today’s world that people hard to find a well-kept secret place to enjoy their holidays. Moreover, instead of spending an unreasonable amount of money for hotel and services in tourist attractions in high season, they could participate in activities which may be more money-saving and very beneficial for themselves and community. Specifically, when adventure seekers play dangerous sports such as mountaineering or surfing, it may put them in the edge of endurance, which tests their resourcefulness to limit. Taking part in aid projects to help remote areas or misfortunate people is bound to breed a sense of usefulness in participants and raise awareness of the community, as well as contribute to make a better world.

Apparently, people now have more choice for their holidays. In my opinion, regardless of what they select, the nature of holiday does not change. Holidays are always the best time for people seek something out of ordinary and find solace after pressure in their daily lives.

Hi Linh

Thanks for this essay. Some great ideas and sentences.

One thing I would say is that your organization is a little unusual. Your introduction rephrases the question nicely, and Paragraph Two discusses holidays in peaceful, distant places. However, I'm not exactly sure what the third paragraph's role is. It begins by saying

However, there are a well of explanations for the shift in the way people spend their holidays.

(I might change slightly this to

However, there is a wealth of explanations for the shift in the way people spend their holidays.)

... and then goes on to describe some alternatives to traditional holidays, rather than specific reasons.

Linh, it's a small point in an otherwise very interesting and well-written essay and I wouldn't worry about it. You have expressed a lot of ideas in 325 words and given some very good examples. Well done.

Hi Enda,

Thanks for your comment!

Actually, I want to discuss both side of given problem in my essay.

In paragrapth two: explain why people choose spend their holiday in far-away place , especially in the past.

In paragrap three: talk about reasons why and how others enjoy their holiday in alternative ways now.

Through 2 paragraph in body, I want to express my viewpoint that while some can choose one way, others like other ways. It doesn't make nature of holiday change.

Maybe my topic sentence in paragraph three make you confused, right? Or the layout has problem in itself :-/

Hope to receive your response!
