Compare the advantages and disadvantages of the televison, radio and books. State which you consider to be the most effective.
Over the years, the television and radio, which were invented after the knowledge of books have been the main media for communication of information. However, in this age of technology, books are becoming outdated. This essay will consider the advantages and disadvantages of the above-mentioned media.
First, the use of television, radio and books have a number of of advantages.Presently, most people can afford a radio, a television and books .This is in contrast with this age of technology, where everybody cannot have access to the internet. These media also, especially the television gives information with visual images, this will go a long way to pass the message across. Even some books have pictures too.
Furthermore, information recorded in books are for life as long as the books are not destroyed .Therefore, government can best pass information using these media. However, I feel the most effective is the radio because it is easily affordable by the people in the country side.
On the other hand, these media have their disadvantages. In developing countries there is no regular supply of electricity ,which means that information may not get to everyone, both on radio and television.Again, at times the television stations have technical faults which results in a break in transmission. This can hinder free flow of information .Finally, books are subject to destruction easily. Once there is a fire outbreak, the information recorded in books will be destroyed.
In conclusion, the advantages of the television, radio and books far outweigh the disadvantages.
