OfflineSome people believe that the range of technology available to individuals today is increasing the gap between rich people and poor people, while others say that technology has the opposite effect. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
It is highly true that technology has drastically impacted on the ways people live worldwide. While there are many people firmly believe that technology widen the gap between poor and rich people, others think different. In my opinion technology could improve the poor people’s living.
Technology, on one hand, shows an increase the gap between poor and rich people. For many years, it has been clearly seen the fact that many people in developed countries improve their lives through accessing technologies which are not commonly found in third world. For example, people having telephone can quickly negotiate for the most reasonable price in a business from a distance far and wide. It leads to earn more money .By contrast, people, who do not own such devices, can be limited in such situations.
On the other hand, we cannot negate what technology has brought for many deprived people in remote areas to achieve a higher standard of living. Most innovative technologies are popularly used to increase products in poorer countries in which many people died from lacking nutrition. In addition, couples of decades ago, many poor people, because of low awareness of hygiene and sanitation, accepted low life expectancy. Nowadays, thanks to technological suppliers such as television or cell phone, people have equal opportunities to access health care information. Consequently, they, even the poor, can live longer.
To sum up, there exists a gap between poor and rich people that created by technology. However, I can do believe that the positive of technology, as narrowing the gap between the two, can outweigh the negative.

Hi Brian
Thanks for this essay on technology and the digital divide. Before looking at the essay in detail, let's look at the examples
Paragraph 2:
A lot of words, but only one example (mobile phones), and even that is not fully developed
Paragraph 3:
Again, a lot of words, and some examples (sanitation, poor food, mobile phone) but the examples are not developed. In addition, what does this mean in simple terms?
Most innovative technologies are popularly used to increase products in poorer countries in which many people died from lacking nutrition.
Perhaps if you had a specific example it would be clearer, and try to keep one tense in the sentence.
In a 3773 essay (Para 1: three sentence intro; Para 2: 7 sentence one side; Para 3:7 sentence other side; Para 4: 3 sentence conclusion) you should have three examples in Paragraph 2 and three more examples in Paragraph 3. Each will be about two sentences - idea and example, or example and supporting information - in order to be developed fully.
You can also write a 35553 essay which has three ideas (the three middle paragraphs) but you need A LOT of information about each of the 3 ideas
Have a look at some specific technologies, pick some as examples, and develop them fully.
